Poor Tony Gallopin just can’t catch a break at the 2019 Tour
de France. He’s had a very minor crashes already and
looked like he was limping after one of those.
And then, on Stage 5 at the 2019 Tour de France, Gallopin
had a brief altercation…. with an umbrella. Yes, really. He managed to keep
his bike upright for this incident. So, swings and roundabouts, right?
Gallopin vs umbrella 2019 Tour France
Let’s see that again in slow mo….
Tony Gallopin was the last Frenchman to wear yellow in 2014, before Julian Alaphilippe took the jersey on Stage 3 of this year’s tour.
Italy’s Elia Viviani was too fast for any of the other top
speedsters in a classic 70kph (44mph) bunch sprint at the end of the fourth
stage of the Tour de France in Nancy on Tuesday.
The Deceuninck-Quick Step rider won the dash for the line
after he was led out by teammate Julian Alaphilippe, the overall race leader
and first Frenchman to don the leader’s yellow jersey in five years.
Viviani edged Alexander Kristoff and Caleb Ewan who were second and third on a 1.5km home straight with all the top sprinters and their lead-off trains, were active over a nervy finale.
