Golf: European Tour

South Africa’s Louis de Jager will resume his pursuit of leaders, Bernd Ritthammer and Robert MacIntyre in the European Tour’s European Open in Hamburg, which continues on Sunday.

Multichoice Diski Challenge 

There is no top-flight domestic soccer on due to the international break, but the reserves are in action in the Multichoice Diski Challenge.

The action kicks off at 10:00 with Stellenbosch FC squaring off against Baroka, while Black Leopards do battle against Bidvest Wits at the same time.

Bloemfontein Celtic and Kaizer Chiefs are in action later on at 12:00, followed by a late kick-off in the clash between AmaZulu and Mamelodi Sundowns at 15:00.

Currie Cup

In an epic finish to the Currie Cup, the Cheetahs fought off a spirited comeback from the Lions to walk off 31-28 winners and secure the title.

The men from Bloem led 31-7 at halftime, and looked to have things under control, until the Lions almost staged a coup, with one-way traffic in the second half.

South Africa’s Kgothatso Montjane’s journey in the US Open ended in the quarterfinals of the wheelchair singles, as she was beaten by American, Dana Mathewson. 

Proteas tour to India

South Africa’s Quinton de Kock during the ICC Cricket World Cup group stage match at The Oval, London.

The Proteas, led by Quinton de Kock, arrived in India, where they will be playing three T20 Internationals beginning on Sunday, 15 September.

The tour also consists of three Test matches, which will see the return of regular skipper Faf du Plessis.

It is also the first outing for interim team director Enoch Nkwe, who took charge after a restructuring of coaching structures in the national set-up.
