Rugby Championship: Pumas recall veteran Creevy for Bok clash

Veteran Pumas hooker Augustin Creevy has been passed fit to face the Springboks in a Rugby Championship decider in Salta on Saturday.

Creevy had missed the Pumas defeat to Australia in the previous round of action but the talismanic forward returns to give the team a much-needed boost. He replaces Julian Montoya, who moves to the bench.

The hooker was a big part of the Jaguares incredible Super Rugby campaign and his presence in the team alone will be an enormous boost to the Pumas.

The bulk of the Pumas team is made up of Jaguares players but the Pumas also draw on talents from European leagues such as Nicholas Sanchez.

Argentina cannot win the Rugby Championship having gathered just the two losing bonus points against the All Blacks and Wallabies but they can spoil the Springboks party.

Boks leading the Rugby Championship

The Springboks head into the final round of the Rugby Championship in pole position. By the time the match kicks off in Salta, the Springboks will know exactly what they need to do to claim their first title since the tournament expanded to four teams. The Springboks won the old Tri-Nations three times.

The Springboks already know that a bonus-point victory over the Pumas will guarantee the Rugby Championship trophy but the likelihood is that a simple victory will be enough to be crowned Southern Hemisphere champions*.
