Kaizer Chiefs unveiled another new signing on Wednesday in Ghanaian midfielder James Kotei, who joins the club from Tanzanian giants Simba.

The Glamour Boys are in a process of rebuilding following a woeful season, and have offloaded a handful of players with set to be released still.

Having announced one new addition to their squad so far in the off-season, they unveiled their second signing in the 25-year-old, who joined on a three-year deal.

Who is James Kotei and how will he fit in at Chiefs?

Kotei comes in to bolster the heart of the Kaizer Chiefs midfield, which has predominantly been occupied by George Maluleka and veteran Willard Katsande, with the likes of Siphelele Ntshangase also getting the occasional run.

As a holding midfielder, Kotei is likely to compete with Katsande for game time in a position that has been thinly stocked of late, and has a chance of being the preferred choice, with the Zimbabwean international seemingly not a firm favourite of coach Ernst Middendorp.

Before joining Simba, the player plied his trade in Saudi Arabia for Al-Orubah, spending two seasons before returning to the continent.

In his last season in the East African country, he became a regular starter, and helped his side to the Caf Champions League quarterfinals, where they were knocked out by TP Mazembe.

Pre-season training at Chiefs began on Wednesday, with Kotei joining his new teammates.

The club has promised to announce more signings in due course, with more exits also on the cards.
