greatest music year yet- a surge of exciting homegrown sounds with an unmatched
fusion of contemporary craft. This year, the 9th edition of Jazz in
the Cradle will celebrate “Crafting New Rooted Rhythms”, giving recognition to
youthful and talented musicians. Held in
the luxurious gardens of the NIROX Sculpture on September 1st, the
concert brings together a curated line-up of jazz music performances.
Jazz music spans over a rich artistic heritage and so it was fitting
that the annual festival, returns to where it all began, the Cradle of Human Kind.
The world heritage site devotes its
space to quality in all forms of contemporary arts and will set the tone for a dynamic
fusion of seamless melodies.
The line-up will capture the mood of some of South Africa’s loved classics
with the best of present-day upbeat, yet soothing sounds. A five-piece
multinational band, Soul Housing Project, led by Sakhile Moleshe will bring an unmistakably
splendid sound to the concert. The music reflects their international and
local influences – with a touch of rich, charismatic vocals that are layered with classic soul sounds. The
band will showcase their diverse capabilities, topping their sound with a
slight experience and transformation of talent into an earlier,
more complex form- a colossal live explosion of musical experiments and
