The Constitutional Court has on Thursday morning upheld the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA)’s ruling that fired National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) officials advocates Nomgcobo Jiba and Lawrence Mrwebi should not be struck from the roll of advocates.
The court dismissed the General Council of the Bar’s appeal which wanted the advocates struck off the roll.
The High Court in Pretoria ruled in favour of the bar but the pair appealed at the Supreme Court of Appeal, which reinstated them last year. The bar then appealed at the Constitutional Court.
The Constitutional Court found that the matter had no constitutional barring and the judgment was unanimous from the justices.
