Newly crowned Miss Universe, South Africa’s Zozibini Tunzi has arrived in New York to begin her reign. Tunzi walked away with the crown at the 68th edition of the Miss Universe competition, which was held on December 8, at Tyler Perry Studios in the United States.
In one of her speeches at the pageant, Tunzi said, “I grew up in a world where a woman who looks like me, with my kind of skin and my kind of hair, was never considered to be beautiful. I think that it is time that that stops today.”
Speaking to SABC News’ New York correspondent Sherwin Bryce-Pease on top of the iconic Empire State building, Tunzi says when she heard her name being announced as the winner, it was so unbelievable.
