The family of renowned traditional healer, Credo Mutwa has requested additional renovations to his Kuruman home. The Northern Cape Department of Arts and Culture says the upgrade on top of the initial work was delayed.
They previously indicated they would be completed by the end of August.
The revamp that started in February 2019 was to ensure the house was suitable for Mutwa’s already deteriorating health.
The Department’s spokesperson, Conrad Fortune, says renovations at the Sanusi’s homestead are at an advanced stage and hope the family will move back soon.
“There was a request from the family that additional work must be done at the home; they request that we assist them with refurbishing of bathroom and toilet, changes in the lounge as well as replacement of the windows that were damaged. Obviously, these are extra costs and we need to get approval as government to see if there’s funding available. The meeting was held with the family, and agreement was held on we see how we will assist and the project is in an advanced stage. The family will move in as soon as the home is finished; it’s, unfortunately, difficult to predict the when.”
